Chosen theme: Pirates and Princesses

Okay, so that's not totally true. There were tons of princess parties and tons of pirate parties, just none where the pirates and princesses coexisted.
As the princesses arrived they got a skirt, shoes, a tiara and make up. The pirates got a bandana, a belt, and a pirate beard if they wanted one.
Then we made a pirate and princess flag! Arrgghh!
Next we played a romping game of pirates vs. princesses freeze tag. Then red rover. It was great, but a few pirates refused to be taken to the princess team. I can't say I blame them.
After that we came inside for some ocean treats. Blue jello with sweedish fish inside and whipped cream on top. I don't recommend the sweedish fish. It looked cute, but not a single kid ate the fish, which were pretty soggy after sitting in jello for a whole day.
While we were eating we heard a knock on the door. It was a message telling us of a treasure in a cave! The pirates and princesses had to get swords and wands to help them find their way.
All the pirates and princesses lined up for the treasure hunt. Adam and I blocked the windows in the garage, and used all our garage stuff to build a little obstacle course that led to the treasure chest. We stuffed balloons with candy, coins, play money, necklaces, and rings. The kids had to pop the balloons to get to the treasure, which was easy since the concrete was so hot, the popped when they hit the ground. The kids loved it! The gathered up their candy and came inside for presents and cake.

The Belle of the Ball! In a new dress from one of our very favorite people, Jennifer!
This sweet girl is an absolute joy to have in our home. I couldn't ask for a better big sister to be an example to her siblings. She is helpful and kind, sweet as can be, and I just love her. Lucy loves to read, and draw. Right now she wants to be a cheerleader when she grows up. She is the first to offer to help and wants to make people feel good. Being in kindergarten has brought out her shy side, we have lots of conversations about making new friends. Lucy has an excellent memory and loves the scriptures. She is already excited to get baptized when she is 8 and to ride her new bike without training wheels. And she is planning on getting married when she is 6. We will be discussing that one soon. Don't wait for an invite.

Awe...Sounds like a wonderful party! They are all so cute. Big parties like this, are a lot of hard work for mom and dad, but it sure is worth it. How fun.
