it's always fun when papa comes

Right after we got back from our Utah trip we got a visit from Grandma and Papa, my parents. Lucy and Meg were so excited, they could barely stand it. Lucy asked me about every two seconds when Grandma and Papa were going to be here, and called them about 4 times during the day. Meg just went around the house singing "it's always fun when Papa comes". She even sang it over the phone during one of Lucy's phone calls.

As always, Dad has to have a project. This one was a project/birthday wish. A brand new garage door opener. We have been living without one since we moved in two years ago, making the garage only half usable, and therefore making our car unbearably hot in the summer months. I love it! Happy Birthday to me!

Our kids spent a lot of time on the laps of Grandma and Papa, reading books, playing, talking, pat-a-cake, peek-a-boo and. . . .

HORSEY RIDES! About a million of them.

Carlie was so cute, she would go up to Papa, pat his knee and say "Nay, nay! Nay nay!" Then he'd pop her on his knee and she'd chant, "nay, nay, nay, nay, nay, nay". Too cute!

And following with tradition we made a trip to the dollar store. The girls love the dollar store, but especially with Grandma and Papa who are less inclined to say "no" than their own mother. Carlie picked out two balls, and then stole the other two Lucy and Meg picked as soon as we got home. She put these balls in and out of a bucket for-- I'm not kidding--about an hour.

We also spent an afternoon at a water park, had my birthday dinner at one of my favorite restaurants, Oregano's, attended Aubrey's baby blessing, and had a lunch at our house after, a shopping trip for school clothes, a lunch out at my other favorite restaurant, Chino Bandido, and visited Adam's new classroom. We had a fabulous time and the girls just love the time and attention they get. Thanks Grandma and Papa!
